Joanee Bracker
Head Coach
Entering her 42nd year as head coach of the women’s basketball program, in 2011-12, Bracker is one of Midland University’s most successful coaches, owning a 727-382 career record at Midland.
On the court, she has guided the Warriors to a season-end national ranking on 13 different occasions, while the Warriors have earned national tournament berths eight times under Bracker, the most recent being the 1999-2000 season. Recently, Bracker reached a pivotal milestone in her coaching career. She earned her 700th career victory, a feat few coaches ever achieve during their career.
During her career, Bracker has worked closely with the USA Olympic women’s basketball team, serving as the assistant coach for the North team during the 1989 U.S. Olympic Festival. In addition, she served on the selection committee for the 1992 and 1996 USA Olympic women’s basketball teams.
In addition to her coaching duties, she currently serves as the chairperson on the NAIA Kodak All-America selection committee. In June 1999, Bracker was an inaugural member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tennessee. She also received recognition for her outstanding contributions to women's basketball, being inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1996. She is also a member of the Dana College Athletic Hall of Fame, and the Midland University Athletic Hall of Fame.
An assistant professor of physical education at Midland, Bracker graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Dana College and a master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado.
Leon Bracker
Assistant Coach
Leon Bracker has been assisting on the Warrior Basketball team for 37 years. Leon is highly involved in the Warriors recruiting process, and is a multidimensional coach with a substantial teaching background after recently retiring from elementary education with the Fremont Public Schools system. Leon’s hobbies include substitute teaching, ranching, soil conservation, hunting, gardening and fishing.
